General Information 

Bubwith Community Primary School is situated in the centre of this long established village on the east bank of the River Derwent. The village name is probably derived from the Viking ‘Bubba’s Wood’. The school on Church Street was built in 1965. The previous school building is now a delicatessen/wine shop situated opposite the village shop. 

The school comprises a central hall with an administration block, kitchen, five classrooms and a library.

The children benefit from a large sports field, a hard surfaced playground with child friendly play marking and a wildlife study area with pond. We also have a small school garden with raised beds for growing vegetables and there is an activity trail bought for the school by 'Friends of Bubwith School'. In addition to the playtrail there is a climbing structure with netting, monkey bars etc. We have 4 friendship huts around the playground for pupils to socialise in during breaktimes.

Catchment Area

The children on roll come from the village of Bubwith itself, and the many nearby villages and hamlets including Breighton, Foggathorpe, Laytham, Willitoft, Gribthorpe, Aughton, Ellerton and East Cottingwith.
