Peat Rigg Blog Day 3
So we've all arrived home in one piece! But before our re-arrival back at school we had plenty of fun!
The morning started in a flurry of packing and bed stripping before breakfast. (Some children took a bit more waking this morning compared to yesterday!)
Our breakfast was similar to yesterday with both hot and cold options inlcuding some of the tastiest sausages you could ever try.
Once our bellies were full we set off to our final activities: abseiling for two of our groups and bushcraft for the other, (See pictures below.)
It was then paninis for lunch and load the cases onto the bus ready for home for plenty of huge cuddles from parents pleased to ses us!
So that conlcudes our Peat Rigg adventure for another year. Plenty of great memories made, moments of which to be proud and funny tales to tell!

We've done:
abseiling/ low ropes/ archery/ caving/ ziplining and bushcraft
We've also been kept well fed with plenty of sandwiches, salad and snacks at lunch time and pasta bolgnese or mac 'n' cheese for tea!

Greetings from Peat Rigg!
Sorry it has taken a while to get this post up but Peat Rigg's wifi has been misbehaving!
So far, we have all arrived safely, eaten a hearty lunch and completed our first activities which included caving, low ropes, ziplining and bushcraft!
Then, we have had our tea chicken, wedges and veg followed by cake and cream to fortify us for our night time activity the forest walk!
Bed time soon and (hopefully) a good night's sleep ready for a full day tomorrow!

This video shows what a great time we had whilst we were at Peat Rigg!

Wednesday 8th November 2023
We arrived at the Centre shortly after 11am, unloaded our suitcases and headed into the briefing room (which also doubles up as a pool room for later!).
Safety first at all times! We were thoroughly briefed on all the site rules and then we headed off to our dorms.
Job number 1 was to make our beds - this took a while!
Then, at 12.30, we had lunch. A selection of sandwiches, wraps, sausage or cheese rolls alongside salad and fruit was available.
Fed and watered, we assembled in our activity groups in the barn ready to go!
See our group pictures below.
Group A headed off to do tree climbing and low ropes.
Group B headed off to do obstacles and Jacob's ladder.
Group C headed off to do ziplining and caving.
Keep an eye out on the slideshow as additional pictures from all of these activities will be uploaded later on today!
Thursday 9th November
Good morning all from Peat Rigg!
We forgot to update you about our night time activities at the end of yesterday, so we will start there.
Following our afternoon activities we all enjoyed a parma chicken (or quorn) meal with potatoes and vergetables, followed by cake and some really warming and tasty custard!
Then, we all collected our torches ready for our night-time activity: orienteering.
It took us a while hunting for all the controls around the whole Peat Rigg site in the dark. We set out in 4 different groups for this activity and Mrs Douglas's group - the Nightwalkers - were the eventual victors.
Finally, we all got into our pyjamas, ready for bed enjoyed a pre-bedtime hot chocolate and got tucked up for the night.
The good news is - a calm and peaceful night was had by all. It took more than one knock to wake up most of our dorms this morning. However, eventually, everyone roused and it was time for breakfast. We celebrated a birthday first 'THING' (see picture in slideshow 2) and enjoyed a hearty breakfast ready for a full day ahead.
Off to our first activity in a few minutes - so a further update later!
UPDATE 4pm
It has been a great day! Groups have been climbing, ziplining, on the low ropes assault course and caving this morining and this afternoon, two of our groups have been canoeing on Peat Rigg's 'new this year' lake! See the pictures in slide show 2!
Tonight for tea we have lasagne or macaroni cheese and chocolate brownie for pudding followed by a torchilit forest walk with forest games! We are all having a fantastic time!
UPDATE
Friday 10th November
Last night's activity was great fun! We went for a torchlight walk in the forest and played a game called predator where we had to creep back to our camp as stealthily as possible without being detected by our group leader! It was then hot chocolate and to bed - which, because everyone had had such an exhausting day, happened half an hour earlier than the day before.
This morning everyone was up, packed and beds stripped ready before breakfast. We had cereal, yoghurt, fruit and toast to choose from as well as sausage, hash browns and beans as our hot option! Tummies full, we stored our suitcases in the barn then began our final activites of our stay. Group C got their wetsuits on and walked to the lake for a canoeing session and Groups A and B were tree climbing and doing the obstacle course respectively.
See slideshow 3 for a few pictures of this morning's activities as they just got underway.
This is the last blog update before we all return home sweet home where we are looking forward to lots of cuddles and home comforts.
